Five-Year Strategic Plan

The current strategic plan was adopted January 2022 by the Newport City Board of Education.
  1. To positively impact student achievement in all curricular programs.

  1. Focus on providing high quality instruction to maximize student learning, using best practice teaching strategies.    

  2. Continue to research and implement effective/high quality teaching strategies.

  3. Continue to provide clean, positive, safe, and dynamic academic spaces.

  4. Effectively use data to set goals, set expectations, and plan instruction for all learners.

  5. Focus on providing interventions and identify gaps.


  1. To securely and effectively integrate leading educational technology.

    1. Focus on modernizing technologies currently in place.

    2. Maintain 1:1 student access to updated instructional technology devices.

    3. Provide ongoing teacher training to support the introduction of new technologies.

    4. Upgrade network bandwidth to support increased network utilization.


  1. To recruit, retain, and develop a high quality staff.

    1. Provide needed/desired professional development based on individual teacher needs.

    2. Continue to provide a high quality mentorship program for new and low performing teachers.

    3. Provide a competitive salary schedule comparable with surrounding school systems.

    4. Utilize ESSER funding to provide additional educators for lower student:teacher ratio and interventions to address learning loss.


  1. To enhance communication, collaboration, and involvement with school stakeholders, local organizations, and business leaders.

    1. Provide regular opportunities for parent/community involvement with the school.

    2. Continue to maintain update communication tools (websites, social media, etc.)

    3. Provide opportunities for parents/community stakeholders to be involved in and/or support the student curriculum.


  1. To maintain and enhance academic spaces and facilities.

    1. Replacement of HVAC units in primary building.

    2. Enclose reception area in primary building for added security.

    3. Upgrade entry doors to gymnasium and gym lobby.

    4. Improvements to restrooms in grades 3-8th.

    5. Replacement of student desks in main building.

    6. Renovation of yellow playground equipment. 

    7. Maintenance/replacement of infrastructure components.
